Top-ranked Shamrocks slam Oxford
OXFORD — Ten months after falling to Oxford, 26-25, in the Division 1 state championship, Novi Detroit Catholic Central gained some payback Wednesday on the wrestling mats.
The top-ranked Shamrocks, who cruised to the Oakland County Championships three weeks ago, dealt third-ranked Oxford a huge blow with a 49-13 pounding.
The Shamrocks won seven of the 14 weight classes by pin and further put the stranglehold on the No. 1 ranking in Division 1.

Catholic Central had the win locked up before the meet was 10 matches old.
Trevor Zdebski set the tone with a pin at 103 and the Shamrocks took their first lead, and CC won seven of the first nine matches to gain complete control. Ken Bade, Logan Marcicki and Alec Mooradian’s had early wins, each by pin, for Catholic Central to help gain control.
Edwin Schlickenmeyer and Prescott Line won matches by pin for Oxford.
