Avondale’s Aiello signs with Wright State
AUBURN HILLS — Marisa Aiello, a 6-foot middle blocker from Auburn Hills Avondale High School and Michigan Elite Volleyball Academy, has signed a National Letter of Intent to play volleyball at Division I Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.
During her four years on varsity at Avondale, Aiello has garnered numerous academics and athletics accolades for her efforts, including OAA Scholar Athlete, Best Offensive Player, Best All-Around, MVP, Team Captain, All-League, All-Region Top Ten, All-County First Team, All-Area and Class A All-State Honorable Mention.
In 2011 she helped lead the team to their first ever Class A district championship.
Aiello has played on the national-level team for Michigan Elite Volleyball Academy since the eighth grade. While at Michigan Elite, her squad placed first and second in the Michigan Open Division, captured the Presidents Day Tournament Open Division title in Washington D.C., qualified in 2011 to compete at the Junior Olympics Open Division in Atlanta, and is ranked 26th in the country.
Aiello plans to study Business Marketing/Management and to go on to pursue an MBA in Sports Management
