GIRLS BASKETBALL: Athens gains first win of the season over Ferndale University
TROY — Troy Athens finally gained its first win of the season Tuesday. The Red Hawks’ victim was Ferndale University in a 46-40 non-league triumph.
After being tied 9-9 after the first quarter, Athens (1-16) went on a 11-8 surge in the second quarter for a 20-17 lead. The Red Hawks outscored Ferndale University 26-23 in the second half.
Lauren Genereau led Athens with 13 points. Taylor Hill added 12 pints and Mary Grace Stark chipped in with nine points for the Red Hawks.
Alexis Thompson scored 13 and both Loni Moore and Taylor Hill added 12 points apiece for Ferndale University.
