OUTLOOK: The Fighting Irish are coming off back-to-back years of impressive football, reaching the Final Four in 2012 and the second round in 2013. There is enough talent in the fold to keep Gabriel Richard in the group of teams that will likely be in the hunt for the postseason.

 

Dearborn Divine Child

HEAD COACH: Steve Robb.

ASSISTANT COACHES: Unavailable.

2013 RECORD: 3-6, 1-3 CHSL-AA Division (fourth).

2013 POSTSEASON: Did not qualify.

POSTSEASON APPEARANCES: 9, 1975, 1982, 1985; 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2009, 2010.

KEY RETURNEES: Collin Goslin, sr. QB.

KEY LOSSES: Brock Bacher, DT;; Anthony DiPonio, DB; Tom Popiel, LB; Mike Flory, RB; Ryan Seurynck, TE.

OUTLOOK: After finishing below the five-hundred barrier the past three seasons, the Falcons hope to right the ship this season and make the postseason for the first time since 2010.

 

Detroit Loyola

HEAD COACH: John Callahan, sixth season.

2013 RECORD: 13-1, 4-0 CHSL-AA Division (first); won AA Prep Bowl title.

2013 POSTSEASON: Melvindale Academy of Business Tech (46-0); Britton-Macon-Deerfiled (37-0); Southfield Christian (50-7); Homer (52-7); lost in D-7 state finals to Ishpeming (22-12).

OUTLOOK: Under the departed Kyle Zimmerman, the Fighting Irish climbed up a few rungs on the charts into a high-level D-4 team every bit worthy of its top-10 ranking the past two years. This season they are under the tutelage of journeyman Pat Fox, who has the talent at his disposal to keep things going. With some youth at spots and experience at others, it will be interesting to see how this squad reacts under a new system.
