SCHOOL: Auburn Hills Oakland Christian

HEAD COACH: Robert Novy, second season

2015 RECORD: 0-9, 0-5 MIAC (sixth)

POSTSEASON: None.

KEY RETURNEES: Josh Morgan, sr. DB-WR; Elijah Kennedy, sr. DE/OG; Dan Bolen, sr. OT; Josh Siminski, jr. QB/DB; Ryder Patterson, jr. WR/DB; Reece McConnell, jr. LB/OG/TB; Luke McConnell, soph. RB/LB; Luke Hoffman,. jr. OT/DT; Tyler Rice, sr. TE-DE

KEY NEWCOMERS: Hunter Washington, jr. RB; Seth Williams, WR; Cam Cotter, WR; Christian Campbell, RB/DB; Angelo Scafone, DB.

NOTABLES: After scoring only 44 points and going winless last season, the Lancers look to climb out of the cellar and try to get back to the postseason for the first time since 2013. The team will be in its second season under Novy’s system and not much was lost in terms of graduation. Deoth could be a problem with numbers.

SCHOOL: Grosse Pointe Woods University-Liggett

HEAD COACH: Dan Cimini, eighth season (31-24)

2015 RECORD: 6-4, 4-1 MIAC (second)

POSTSEASON: Lost in D-7 pre-district to Riverview Gabriel Richard (30-27).

KEY RETURNEES: Charles Cain, sr. RB/DB; Connor McCarron, sr. QB/SE; William Morrison, jr. WR-DB; Sam Durno, sr. OT-DT; Brady McCarron, soph. OLB-K; Noah Miller, jr. DB; Jackson Walkowiak, sr. DE-S

NOTABLES: Nine years ago the Knights didn’t even field a team, while in 2006 and 2007 the season was cut short due to low numbers. Now Liggett is coming off six straight postseason appearances including league championships in four of the last six years to showcase the turnaround. Expect more of the same this season.

SCHOOL: Rochester Hills Lutheran Northwest

HEAD COACH: Don Justice, 12th season (72-80)

ASSISTANT COACHES: Harold Macks, Rich Alkire, Mario Borrocci, Bill Cudney

2015 RECORD: 6-4, 3-2 MIAC (third)

POSTSEASON: Lost in D-7 pre-district to New Lothrup (43-0)

KEY RETURNEES: Evan Bowlds, sr. OL/DL (6-1, 215); Rylan Reithmeier, jr. OL/DL (6-1, 200); Henry Dodson, jr. OL/DL (5-11, 210); Danny Macks, jr. QB/RB (6-0, 215); Mike Justice, sr. QB/WR/DB/K/P (5-11, 170); Zach Alkire, jr. QB/WR/DB (5-11, 170); Jake Gunn, sr. RB/LB (5-9, 160).

KEY NEWCOMERS: Paul Rosa, jr. WR (5-10, 160); David Hagen, jr. WR/RB (5-9, 160); Ryan Garr, soph. WR (5-11, 150); Riley Lukas, soph. WR/QB (5-11, 160); Clark Thomas, soph. RB (5-9, 165); Jake Justice, fr. WR (6-4, 175); Paul Rosa, jr. DB (5-10, 160); David Hagen, jr. DB (5-9, 160).

NOTABLES: Lutheran Northwest has reached the postseason in six of the past eight seasons after reaching the playoffs only two times before that. Northwest is a quality team that might have its best shot at a conference title since winning the Metro Conference bcd in 2008.

football - line of scrimmage

SCHOOL: Southfield Christian

HEAD COACH: Larry Weiss, fifth season (18-21)

2015 RECORD: 3-6, 2-3 MIAC (fourth)

POSTSEASON: None

KEY RETURNEES: Ricky Brown, sr. WR/LB; C.J. Robeson, sr. T/DE; David Robinson, sr. WR/LB; Jackson Hart, jr. C/LB.

NOTABLES: Although the Eagles bolster quality athletes and track speed, overall the team lacks depth and may struggle if injuries rear their ugly head. Will this team be a challenger or a bottom feeder remains to be seen.

SCHOOL: Sterling Heights Parkway Christian

HEAD COACH: Joe Beck, first season

ASSISTANT COACHES: Bob Shippy, Tom McCarren, Joel Snover, Ray Filipek, Patrick Corbett, John Quigley,

2015 RECORD: 7-4, 5-0 MIAC (first)

POSTSEASON: Def. Melvindale Academy for Business & Tech (35-12); lost in D-8 district finals to Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes (54-29).

KEY RETURNEES: Jackson Allen, sr. WR/RB (5-8, 165); Dominic Delicata, sr. WR (6-0, 195); Alex Challangoe, jr. OG/C/DT (5-9, 220); Maurice Hutchinson, soph. MLB/FB/TE (6-2, 215); Bryce Perko, soph. ILB/OT (6-4, 195); Jackson Allen, sr. FS (5-8, 165); Jacob Bambrick, sr. CB/WR (6-2, 170);

KEY NEWCOMERS: Julian Davis, soph. RB/WR/OLB/KR (5-6, 150); Connor Mead, sr. WR/DB (6-1, 170, sat out last season); Jacob Couture, jr. OT/DT (6-1, 250); Kyle Petitpren, soph. OG/OLB (6-1, 245); John Bowling, jr. OG (5-11, 195); Dominic Delicata, sr. CB (6-0, 195); Brandon Challangoe, soph. NT (5-10, 270); Alfred Carra, jr. P/K/DB (5-9, 150); Alfred Carra, jr. K (5-9, 150).

NOTABLES: The bad news for the Eagles is a very talented class of athletes graduated. The good news is that there is plenty of talented players waiting in the wings to make sure last season was not a one-hit wonder. There is quality experience, size and speed and no reason to indicate that the Eagles will fall from their perch or at least fall without a fight.

SCHOOL: Westland Lutheran

HEAD COACH: Paul Guse’, 15th season (50-77)

2015 RECORD: 3-6, 1-4 MIAC (fifth)

POSTSEASON: None.

KEY RETURNEES: Luke Smith, sr. QB; D.J. NyKiel, sr. RB/CB; Jeremy Orme, sr. OL; Andy Faith, sr. FS.

NOTABLES: After making the playoffs in 2014, the Warriors fell into a rebuilding mode last season with a young roster. There is plenty of experience in uniform, signaling that Westland could be a sleeper in the MIAC.
