COACH’S QUOTE / NOTABLES: Avondale is now 16 seasons removed from its Class B state championship team. But the one constant remains is that all of Coach Morton’s teams compete, regardless of talent level. Expect this team to finish in the top half of the OAA White this season with a nice mix of experience and talented youth. The guard-oriented Yellowjackets lack size but will make up for it with quickness and depth at guard.

Clarkston

HEAD COACH: Dan Fife, 36th season (683-170)

COACH’S QUOTE / NOTABLES: Clarkston has won 11 straight league titles and 13 of 14; the Wolves also have captured district titles in 20 of 22 seasons. But Clarkston finally broke through with its first state title in 2017. Most of the roster is back, including four starters, and the Wolves bolster one of the nation’s top point guard in Loyer and eight players that stand between 6-5 and 6-11. This team is so deep that even players towards the end of the bench would be starters at most schools. Clarkston is 71-5 the past three seasons.

COACH’S QUOTE / NOTABLES: The Mountaineers ventured through a tough rebuilding campaign two year ago and finished around .500 last season. Now with eight players with varsity experienced improved size, this team should one of the better teams in their its CHSL division, along with three-time defending champ Riverview Gabriel Richard and Marine City Cardinal Mooney. “We have a lot of experience coming back and a pretty good balance of inside and out to attack with,” said Lowney. ”The league will be a battle and should be another exciting time. The kids have been working hard in the preseason and are excited to get the season going.”

COACH’S QUOTE / NOTABLES: Troy ventured through one its best seasons in school history last winter, winning league, district and regional titles before falling to fellow OAA member West Bloomfield in the Elite Eight. The good news is that the Colts bring back four starters, eight of their top 12 from last year, have great size, athleticism and a veteran coaching staff. If this team can hold the opposition to under 50 or 60 points a game, the Colts will definitely be another Class A Top 20 team. Troy is also back up in the OAA Red for the first time in years, and should bode well with a high-scoring unit capable with running with the big boys.
