SATURDAY’S BASEBALL/SOCCER ROUNDUP: Rochester sweeps Utica Ford; Troy, Grand Blanc battle to scoreless tie
ROCHESTER — Behind 18 runs in two games, Rochester inched closer to the five-hundred mark with an 11-7and 7-2 twinbill sweep of visiting Utica Ford Saturday in non-league baseball action.
In the opener, Mike Halsey finished 1-for-2, scored three runs scored and had an RBI double to pace Rochester. Matt Beckstrom was 2-for-4 and scored a run for the Falcons.
In Game 2, Max Harper, Connor Pacella and Mitch Weber each hit home runs during a five-run outburst in the fifth inning for the Falcons. Randy Chuba struck out five in the win from the mound for Rochester (6-3).
