ROCHESTER HILLS — Redshirt sophomore Brittney Nelson has left the Oakland University women’s basketball team, coach Beckie Francis announced on Thursday.

Nelson will leave the team in good academic standing with an intention towards pursuing alternative academic opportunities. She did not state if she would transfer or stay at Oakland.

“Brittney was a part of our team and for a year and a half and she will be missed,” said Oakland coach Beckie Francis. “We wish her the best of luck in her future academic endeavors.”

Nelson transferred to Oakland after playing for one year at Georgia Southern.  The 6-foot guard/forward was an all-state player at Rochester Stoney Creek, starting for the cougars for four years.
