BLOOMFIELD HILLS – Inconsistent goaltending has been an Achilles’’ Heel for Clarkston’s hockey team the past couple of seasons.

Enter Jack Viazanko.

The freshman got a rare start Saturday night against arch-rival Lake Orion Saturday night and he stopped 36 of 38 shots in a 5-2 win over the Dragons in an OAA Red Division game at the Detroit Skating Club.

Austin Morse had a pair of goals and an assist for the Wolves (10-7-1, 6-0-1), which finished with Farmington atop the OAA-Red standings. The tie-breaker will determine who gains the No. 1 seed in the upcoming OAA tournament.

Adam Larkin, Brad Pizzey and Dillon Drayer and also scored for the Wolves. Clarkston scored three times in the second period to break the game open.

Corbin Rainey and Shane Stockwell tallied for Lake Orion (3-3-1 in league play), which held a lopsided 38-17 shots advantage in the contest but were stymied by Jack Viazanko for most of the evening.

Clarkston’s win avenged a 3-2 setback to Lake Orion during last year’s Division 1 regional semifinals.
