TUESDAY’S SOCCER ROUNDUP: Oakland Christian rolls over rival Lutheran Northwest
AUBURN HILLS — Auburn Hills Oakland Christian made sure that it would claim a rivalry win Tuesday night.
The Lancers never trailed, scoring three goals in each half to upend rival Rochester Hills Lutheran Northwest 6-1 in a MIAC Blue Division soccer game.
Tori Johns scored twice in the first half and Cheyenne Witt added another first-half marker, as the Lancers took control at the half.
Kim Lepor netted a goal for Northwest early in the second half to cut the deficit to 3-1. Oakland Christian scored three unanswered goals to put the game away.
Rachel TerMarsch, Darcy Johnston and Emily Lowell also scored for Oakland Christian. Johnston and Samantha Woloson drew assists for the Lancers. Four of the six goals were unassisted.
Freshman Maddie Battiaux made one save in recording the win for Oakland Christian (3-1-0, 2-0-0).
Northwest, which won the MIAC Red Division last season, its first league title in 17 years, was moved up to the MIAC Blue Division this season. The Crusaders slipped to 4-5-0 on the year, including 1-2-0 in league play.
