Northwest, WOLL record softball sweeps

STERLING HEIGHTS — Rochester Hills Lutheran Northwest won for the third time in two days, posting a 6-4, 20-12 MIAC Blue Division softball sweep Tuesday of host Sterling Heights Parkway Christian.

In the opener, Becca Pierce belted a home run and finished with three RBI  to pace the Crusaders (11-, 4-2). Ashly Rietheier had a double and drove in two runs for Lutheran Northwest.

In the nightcap, Kirsten Thompson went 4-for-4 with a solo home run and had three RBI for Northwest/ Stephanie Smith went 3-for-4, drove in three and stroked a home run, while Pierce went 4-for-5 with four RBI for the Crusaders.

WATERFORD OUR LADY OF THE LAKES 8-1, ROYAL OAK SHRINE CATHOLIC 1-0: The host Lakers posted this double header CHSL sweep Tuesday at home to improve to 26-4 overall. Lauren Robak had a double and a triple and drove in the only run in the nightcap for WOLL. In the opener, Abbey Troy had two hits and two RBI, while Robak contributed an RBI triple. Michelle Cottrell stuck out seven and scattered two hits and two walks for the pitching win in Game 2. Abbigayle Kline struck out nine, walked six and gave up two hits for the win in the opener for WOLL.
