State-ranked Wolves rally to bite Farmington; Oakland Christian sweeps Inter-City
CLARKSTON — The first loss of the season came Saturday for Clarkston. But the seventh-ranked Wolves are still perfect in OAA Red Division play.
The three-time defending conference champs found themselves in a deficit for the first time in conference play this season but still found time to upend visiting Farmington, 3-1, in girls volleyball play.
Farmington won the first game, 25-19, with Clarkston taking the final three games, 25-21, 25-23 and 25-18.
The Wolves, whose only loss is to top-ranked Farmington Hills Mercy, the same team that knocked them out in last year’s Class A state quarterfinals, were led by Kaley Konjarevich’s 16 kills and Madison Lightfoot added 25 digs.
Clarkston improved to 3-0 in conference play and 26-1-0 overall. Farmington slipped to 11-4-3 and 1-1 in league play.
AUBURN HILLS OAKLAND CHRISTAIN 25-25-25, ALLEN PARK INTER-CITY BAPTIST 16-23-15: Darcy Johnston had 10 kills and three blocks to lead Oakland Christian to this MIAC Blue Division road win. Madison Orr added 24 digs for the Lancers (12-3-3, 2-0).
TROY 20-25-25-25, WEST BLOOMFIELD 25-12-13-21: Taylor Marquardt had 15 kills and Lindsay Moeller had 50 assists to pace Troy to the OAA White Division win over the visiting Lakers. The Colts (12-10-2, 3-0) collected 60 kills as a team. Jackie Pyles had 16 kills and 17 digs for West Bloomfield (3-7-2, 1-1).
TROY ATHENS 25-25-26, BLOOMFIELD HILLS ANDOVER 19-20-24: Lisa Lavelanet had 24 assists, six blocks and five kills to lead the host Red Hawks to the OAA White Division win. Erica Siismets added nine kills and five blocks for the Red Hawks (14-8-2, 2-1).
ROCHESTER STONEY CREEK 25-25-25, HAZEL PARK 8-9-14: The host Cougars made quick work of the Vikings in this OAA White Division match. Morgan Darin had six kills, seven digs and four aces, while Alexa Caporuscio had 19 assists and 11 aces for Stoney Creek (6-8-2, 2-2).
