Bruins roll Faith Christian in MACS regionals

TROY— Defending state champion Troy Bethany Christian continued to roll through regional play Saturday with another convincing win.

The Bruins, the top seed in the Michigan Association of Christian Schools Division I boys soccer state tournament, took another step closer to a second straight crown, topping visiting Clinton Township Faith Christian, 8-0, in a South Regional semifinal, the team’s third win of the season over Faith Christian, at Firefighters Park in Troy.

Bethany Christian (17-3-1) will play Davison Faith Baptist in regional finals Tuesday at Rochester Hills Christian. The Bruins defeated Davison Faith, 2-1, in a shootout at a tournament earlier in the season and blanked the Eagles, 2-0, in last year’s state title game.

Tyler Parsons scored twice, giving him 23 goals on the year, and Ryan Woodham also scored two goals, upping his season total to 14, in leading the Bruins, who mercied the Patriots in 50 minutes.

Tim Crisan, Noah Francis, Mark Bishop and Sam Davis also scored tor Bethany Christian. Francis leads the Bruins with 28 goals on the year.

Senior Ajay Solomon made two saves for the Bruins’ eighth shutout of the season.
