HOLLY — With a piece of its first football league championship in 59 years on its resume, Holly was seeking its first-ever postseason win Friday.

South Lyon had other plans.

The Lions, making their first postseason appearance since 2007, rolled to a 33-14 victory over the host Bronchos Friday in a Division 2 pre-district contest.

South Lyon, which made the postseason for the first time since the district split into two high schools with the addition of South Lyon East, will visit Walled Lake Western for the district championship next Friday at 7 p.m.

The Bronchos (7-3) also won a share of the Flint Metro League this season, their first piece of the conference championship since joining the league in the early 1970s.

Derek Talaga finished 7-for-9 passing for 120 yards, and had four touchdowns passes to stake South Lyon (7-3) to the 26-0 lead. Talaga hit Jon Newman for a 2-yard TD pass and Newman with a 63-yard laser which led to a 13-0 in the second quarter.

Talgea hooked up with Joel Shekell for a 43-yard TD pass and found Derek Sawle from 20 yards out for a 26-0 cushion.
