DIVISION 3 STATE FINALS: Notre Dame Prep swims all-time best 11th

ROCHESTER HILLS — Pontiac Notre Dame Prep capped another fine girls swimming and diving season with another top-20 state-meet finish.
The Fighting Irish, whose swimming and diving program is just over a decade old, posted its fifth straight top-20 finish and sixth in 11 years. NDP scored 87 points to finish 11th overall at the MHSAA Division 3 state finals at Oakland University in a field where 36 schools reached the scoring column.
The 11th-place finish ties the best state-meet finish for NDP, which was the only school from the www.northoaklandsports.com coverage area to score points at the meet.
Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Kingswood collected 328.5 points to win the state title and easily outdistance itself from the rest of the field. East Grand Rapids was second with 265.5 points, while Plainwell (182), Bloomfield Hills Lahser (182), Holland Christian (141), Hamilton (136), Alma (128), Birmingham Detroit Country Day (97.5), Grand Rapids Christian (96) and Adrian (93) rounded out the top 10.

Marin McInerney was fourth in the 200 free (1:57.88) and third in the 100 backstroke (1:00.03) for the Irish. Kaleigh Mullen touched 12th in the 200 free (2:00.87) and eighth in the 500 free (5:23.48) for NDP.
Mullen and McInerney teamed up with Stephanie Rutila and Emily Kaye to finish eighth in the 200 freestyle relay (1:42.69). Payton Hoff joined with Kaye, Mullen and McInerney for a ninth-place finish in the 400 free relay (3:44.05) to round out the scoring for NDP.
