Oxford skates past West Bloomfield

TROY — Oxford outshot West Bloomfield 32-10 Wednesday and back that disparity with an 8-2 OAA White Division boys hockey triumph over West Bloomfield at the Troy Sports Center.

Stephan Fritz led the Wildcats with two goals and three assists. Luke Novack added a goal and an assist, both Brennen Orr and Nick Hocker had two assists, while Nolan Chapman and Connor Novack with one goal and one assist.

Senior Adam Pardonoff got the win in goal, stopping eight of 10 shots.

“This was certainly our best game of the early season,” offered Oxford coach Dave Hague.” I was very pleased with our forecheck from the start of the game and we were able to generate a lot of sustained pressure in the offensive zone.

“Our compete level was much better in the defensive zone as well,” continued Hague. “I’ve been very impressed with our youth early on. Three freshman, Steven Fowler, Brandon Welch and Scott Stubenrauch, along with sophomore Luke Novack, have all found significant ways to contribute. We have lots of work to do and need to improve in many areas, but I was proud of our boys tonight.”
