Stoney Creek’s Northrup signs with Hillsdale College

ROCHESTER HILLS — Zak Northup, who led Rochester Stoney Creek to its first OAA Red Division baseball championship last June, has signed with Division II Hillsdale College.

Northrup, now a senior right-handed pitcher, was all-conference and all-district as a junior for the cougars, was 7-1 on the mound last season. He posted a 1.31 ERA over 37 innings of work. He allowed 26 hits and seven earned runs while striking out 34 batters and giving up only 15 walks. Opposing teams batted only .202 against him.

At the plate, Northrup hit .358 with 34 hits, 11 doubles, 12 RBI, 13 stolen bases and 45 total bases. In the field, Northrup posted a.949 field percentage with nine errors with 74 assists and 20 putouts.
