FRIDAY’S GIRLS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Holly stymies Lapeer West; Oxford edges Troy Athens

HOLLY — Holly battled back from a 22-18 halftime deficit to earn a 49-39 FML girls basketball win Friday.

The Bronchos outscored the Panthers 3-117 in the second half.

Alyssa Copley scored 14, Lauren Maher added 10 points and Jessica Beeler followed with nine points for Holly (8-2, 6-1), which made only 16-of-30 free throws.

Maris Liburti scored 13 for Lapeer West.

OXFORD 39, TROY ATHENS 36: Oxford built a 31-15 lead at the half and withstood Athens’ 21-18 second half to earn this OAA White Division win Friday in Troy.

Miranda Murphy led Oxford with 13 points. Jessica Murphy added 10 points and Sheby Davis twined nine points for the Wildcats (5-6, 2-3), who were a crisp 23-for-27 from the charity stripe to hold of the Red Hawks.

Sinclair Russell scored 18 and  Lauren Genereau followed with seven points for Athens, which outscored Oxford 11-5 in the third quarter to forge a 26-26 tie entering the fourth quarter.

Athens slipped to 1-7 overall and 0-5 in the league.

ANN ARBOR GABRIEL RICHARD 38, PONTIAC NOTRE DAME PREP 32: Sarah Salvey scored 11 and Mary Yocum added 10 points for Gabriel Richard in this CHSL contest Friday.

Kyaya Bowman scored 10 for Notre Dame Prep, while Jessica Green followed with seven points for the Fighting Irish (4-3), which trailed 21-10 at the half and 28-19 through three quarters.
