Oxford leaves Lathrup in its wake

OXFORD — In one of its most dominating performances since launching its boys swimming and diving program four years ago, Oxford redefined the term dunking Tuesday against Southfield Lathrup.

The Wildcats won all 12 events and cruised to a 148-33 OAA Blue Division victory over Southfield Lathrup Tuesday.

Blake Hibdon, Dwight Merrill, Erick Vandecar and Joey Tasch combined to win the 200 medley relay (1:56.26) to open the meet and never looked back.

Jared Butler the 200 free (52.56) and 100 butterfly (1:01.93), qualifying for the state meet in the 2o0 free, while Vandecar the 200 IM (2:19.64), Tasch the 50 free (24.53), Merrill the 100 breaststroke (1:14.18) and Jones came the 100 backstroke (34.27) for the Wildcats (5-2, 4-0).

Matthew Campagiorni added a win in the diving (207.5 points), Sean Thomas touched first in the 100 free (59.72) and Cheyne Stresky took the 50 free (58.67) for Oxford.

Tasch, Jones, Nico McNeil and Butler combined forces to win the 200 free relay in 1:42.27, while Butler, Hibdon, Tasch and Vandecar comprised the winning 400 free relay (3:49.30) for the Wildcats.
