LAKE ORION — Lake Orion’s boys basketball team has not had much success in overtime games this season. The Dragons suffered another blow Friday night.

Less than two weeks after dropping a double-overtime loss to OAA Blue Division leader Rochester, Lake Orion fell prey to Farmington Friday night by losing to the Falcons, 72-65, in triple overtime in league play.

Lake Orion led 45-38 entering the fourth quarter only to see Farmington storm back with a 17-10 fourth quarter to force overtime.

“This guarantees our first winning season since 2006 and we’re only two wins shy of our modern day record of 13 wins,” said third-year Oxford coach Paul Marfia. “We are in first place in our league right now with some pretty big games coming up the next couple of weeks. We have Hazel Park and they are always tough and we have (Bloomfield Hills) Lahser on the road in less than two weeks. We still have a shot at the league title, but we have to win that one. In the second half we started to play better defense and we shot the ball a lot better. We started to attack the basket more and we’re a lot more aggressive.”

Rochester’s 20-2 third quarter turned the four-point deficit into a 37-23 lead entering the fourth quarter.

Ben Termowski drilled four 3-pointers for 12 points for the Cougars (0-15, 0-6).
