ROCHESTER HILLS – The Oakland men’s basketball team will host Bowling Green State University on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. inside the Athletics Center O’rena for the opening round game of the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament, announced by CollegeInsider.com on Sunday night.

The Golden Grizzlies are appearing in the postseason for the fourth consecutive year.

Oakland (17-15) finished third in The Summit League regular-season standings at 11-7, despite starting 2-4. The Golden Grizzlies won five straight league games to end the regular season, but fell in the quarterfinals to Southern Utah, 84-82, as the Thunderbirds came from 11 down in the final three minutes of the game for the improbable comeback win. The Grizzlies are 5-2 over their last seven games.

Bowling Green (16-15) finished 9-7 in the Mid-American Conference, finishing fifth in the east. The Falcons lost in the first round of the MAC tournament to Central Michigan, 54-53. The Golden Grizzlies have won the last three contests between the two schools to tie the all-time series at 3-3. Oakland coach Greg Kampe was a two-sport student-athlete at Bowling Green in football and basketball, becoming the only player in MAC history to earn All-Academic first team honors in both sports.

The Golden Grizzlies appeared in the inaugural CIT tournament in 2009. After winning the opening round game, 80-74, over Kent State at the O’rena, the Grizzlies had history made against them as Bradley’s Chris Roberts heaved in a 75-foot buzzer beater to defeat OU 76-75 in the quarterfinals. That shot is the longest game-winning shot in NCAA Division I postseason history.

The 24-team postseason tournament will feature first-round games March 13-15, second-round games March 16-18. The quarterfinals will take place March 20-21, semifinals March 23-24 and the championship game will be on March 28 and will broadcast on Fox College Sports.

Tickets are on sale at ticketmaster.com and OUgrizzlies.com. Seats can be purchased for as low as $7.
