Notre Dame Prep opens soccer season with trio of shutouts
PONTIAC — Behind a trio of shutouts, Pontiac Notre Dame Prep got off to a fine start to the girls soccer season in the past week.
The Fighting Irish blanked Clawson (7-0), Dearborn (3-0) and state power Madison Heights Bishop Foley (4-0).
Sophomore Taylor Timko is leading the way with eight goals five assists, as the returning all-stater figures to be one of the most feared snipers in the area this season. Senior Jenn Klei has also been a big contributor on offense with goals and three assists.
On defense, Savannah Baumgart has been a big factor, along with freshmen Sarah Mazur and Christine Scheer and sophomore Bella Galloway have been solid in the midfield. Junior Alex Arnoldy and freshman Megan Bricely have split time in all three games to share the shutouts.
Against Foley, Timko set the tone with three goals and an assist. Klei added the fourth goal with an assists for the Irish.
Timko scored twice with an assist against Dearborn. Sarah Mazur chipped in with a goal and an assists and Ana Gomez picked up an assist in the win.
Notre Dame Prep torched Clawson for seven goals in the opener, led by three tallies and two assists from Timko. Jenn Klei had a goal and an assist, Lindsey Klei scored twice, Ana Gomaz scored once and Leah McGrail picked up two assists for the Irish.
