SATURDAY’S GIRLS SOCCER ROUNDUP: Oxford drops Kearsley; Ladywood edges Notre Dame Prep
OXFORD — It took two different dates, but Oxford finally tamed Flint Kearsley 5-1 in a non-league girls soccer contest on Saturday afternoon.
Oxford led 1-0 when the game was postponed on March 22 due to weather. Brianna Johnson scored off a cross from Chelsea Johnson for the Wildcats.
Oxford resumed play Saturday and outscored the Hornets 4-1.
Paige Brinker converted a free kick to give Oxford a 2-0 lead, while Chlesea Johnson (33:42), while Melissa Gierak scored twice (24:42 second half and 3:21 left) for Oxford.
Alora McCoy picked up an assist and Darien Bandel made nine saves for Oxford.
PONTIAC NOTRE DAME PREP 3, ANN ARBOR GABRIEL RICHARD 2: Taylor Timko scored the hat trick Saturday, which gave her five goals on the week and 15 goals in seven games, in leading the fighting Irish to this one-goal CHSL win.
Anna Terzano and freshman Sarah Pieciak also played well for Notre Dame Prep.
