COLLEGE BASEBALL: Rochester College reached USCAA national semis

SPRINGIFELD, Ill. — Rochester College has reached the Final Four in multiple sports in recent years. The Warriors baseball team joined the fray Wednesday night.

RC cruised past Clarkston State CC, 6-1, to reach the United State Collegiate Athletic Association Small College World Series Final Four and clinch no worse than third in the 10-school national tournament, held at Robin Roberts Stadium.

The Eagles, who outhit RC, 7-5, scored first, but Rochester College scored six unanswered runs to advance. The Warriors plated three in the third, one in the fifth and two more in the sixth. Caleb Tift (Auburn Hills Avondale) went seven strong innings to gain the win, allowing seven hits while striking out four and walking none.

David Woodson finished 2-for-3 and scored twice to lead Rochester College. Luke Strobel was 1-for-3 with an RBI, while Ray Yesh and Austin Timmerman also had hits for the Warriors.

Brandon Gomes was 2-for-3 and had the RBI for Clark State. Andrew Reynolds suffered the loss for the Eagles despite not allowing an earned run over six innings. He struck out four, walked three and gave up just five hits.
