GIRLS LACROSSE: Lake Orion dusts away Oxford
LAKE ORION — Oxford’s first full regular season of girls lacrosse is in the record books.
The Wildcats wrapped it up Tuesday in a rough fashion, falling to rival Lake Orion 16-7 in an OAA crossover match. Oxford previously competed as a club the past two years.
Lake Orion outscored Oxford 9-5 in the first half, then followed that up with a 7-2 edge in the second half to dust away the Wildcats.
Rachel Crech scored five goals and both Emily Hendrix and Mallory DeMoitt scored four goals each for Lake Orion. Melissa Hardcourt, Nicole Carlini and Laura Gonda also scored for Lake Orion.
Emma Kimmel scored four goals, while Riley Hayes, Jordan Pieczinski and Kayce Calcaterra also scored for Oxford. Caitlyn Wroblewski made 16 saves for the Wildcats.
Oxford will now play at Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Thursday in a Division 1 regional. Lake Orion was already ousted last Friday in a Division 1 pre-regional by White Lake Lakeland, 20-10.
