THURSDAY’S SOCCER ROUNDUP: Avondale blanks Andover; Everest stomps Summit; Oxford rolls Hazel Park

BLOOMFIELD HILLS — In a rematch of last November’s Division 2 state semifinal, Auburn Hills Avondale was able to get the best of Bloomfield hills Andover once again, blanking the Barons, 2-0.

Skyler Russ and Erik Koberstein both scored goals in the first half and Ben Richter made it stand with two saves for Avondale (2-0-0, 1-0-0), which opened OAA White Division play with the win.

Andover slipped to 2-2-1 overall and 0-1 in league play with the loss.

CLARKSTON EVEREST COLLEGIATE 7, ROMULUS SUMMIT ACADEMY 0: Everest Collegiate moved to 2-0-0 on the young season with this

Sergio Echevarria scored a goal in each half for Everest Collegiate (2-0). Steven Scott made two stops in goal to pick up a shutout for the Mountaineers.

OXFORD 8, HAZEL PARK 0: Paul Toaka, Noah Brooks and Chase Garavaglia all scored two goals each to the lift the Wildcats to the OAA blue Division win Thursday over the visiting Vikings. Tommy downs and David Kitchner also scored and Josh Nelson did not make a save to blank the Vikings.

CLARKSTON 2, NOVI DETROIT CATHOLIC CENTRAL 1: Clarkston moved to 4-1 with this non-league win Thursday over visiting Catholic Central. Ben Snider and Brandon Reynolds scored in the first half for the Wolves. Harry Smith made eight saves for the win in goal for Clarkston.
