BOYS SOCCER: Eagles upend defending soccer state champions
ROCHESTER HILLS — Rochester Hills Christian opened up the newly-named Wolverine Christian Conference boys soccer season with a win over a defending state champion.
The Eagles, who lost to Davison Faith Baptist, 2-1, in last year’s Michigan Association of Christian Schools Division I state finals, toppled visiting Faith Baptist 2-0 Tuesday, gaining its revenge some 10 months later.
Jesse Montgomery scored an unassisted goal and Aaron Berry scored off an assist from Brandon Rodriguez in the first half for Rochester Hills Christian (4-0-0, 1-0-0). Jared Brown made seven saves for his third shutout of the campaign.
Both teams will be compete in the WCC-Red Division this season.
