FOOTBALL: Oxford stuns previously unbeaten Oak Park
OXFORD — Benjamin Line made a big return to the Oxford lineup Friday.
Line, a sophomore who had battled through some injuries this season, scored two touchdowns as Oxford stunned previously-unbeaten Oak Park Friday in OAA White Division play.
Line scored on runs of 7 and 8 yards and finished with 110 yards on 25 carries for the Wildcats (5-3, 5-2).
Oak Park’s Malik Washington scored on a 20-yard run in the fourth quarter, but the Knights’ two-point conversion attempt failed and Oxford held on for the win.
The Knights’ John Kelly scored on an 80-yard sprint, but the extra point was missed, leading the score at 7-6 midway through the second quarter. Oxford went up 14-6 at the half on Line’s scored TD, the second one coming from eight yards out.
Josh Nelson nailed both crucial extra points for Oxford (5-3, 5-2), which can clinch a postseason berth next weekend with a win in the OAA Red-White Crossover. Hadorn added 60 yards on 13 carries
Oak Park (7-1, 6-1) host Clarkston for the OAA Red-White Championship.
Glacier Wallington finished 5-for-10 passing for 55 for Oxford, which amassed 244 total yards on offense
