GIRLS VOLLEYBALL DISTRICTS: Rochester, Notre Dame Prep open with wins
STERLING HEIGHTS — Rochester made sure there would be a rematch with Rochester Stoney Creek.
After falling to the Cougars in the Rochester City Cup last week, the Falcons upended Utica Monday night to advance to the Class A district semifinals against Stoney Creek Wednesday night at Sterling Heights Stevenson.
Rochester dumped Utica 25-10, 25-15 and 25-13, taking just an hour to oust the Chieftains.
Stephanie Sikorski finished with 12 kills and 14 assists to pace Rochester. (17-22-5). Catie Wiacek chipped in seven kills and Mikayla Baxter had 10 digs for the Falcons.
PONTIAC NOTRE DAME PREP 25-25-25, OUTHFIELD BRADFORD ACADEMY 8-4-10: The district host Fighting Irish made quick work of Bradford, sweeping the guests in a Class B pre-district Monday night.
Angela Adams led NDP 15 aces, as the Irish scored in all ways. Hannah Strat added seven digs, Ashley Knutson added 12 assists, Ellen Guerra slammed six kills and Hannah Antosz dished up 10 assists for Notre Dame Prep.
