BOYS BASKETBALL: Clarkston bounces back with win over Lake Orion
LAKE ORION — A true test of a team’s mental toughness, character and responsiveness is to see how they react to a loss.
A team can learn from its mistakes, improve, and keep making steps in the right direction. Or, a team can fall into a deadly tailspin.
Clarkston’s boys basketball chose to take a step forward.
Following a 15-day layoff, the Wolves bounced back from a pair of mid-December losses to Rochester Adams and Troy — a rare two-game skid — and downed Lake Orion, 55-45, Friday night in an OAA crossover matchup.
Jordan Dasuqi scored 19 points with nine rebounds in the win, his first game back after an injury kept him hobbled on the sidelines for several months.
Clarkston held a narrow 27-25 before outscoring the Dragons 14-8 in the third quarter for a 41-33 advantage. The Wolves closed with a 14-12 edge in the fourth quarter to make the final margin 10 points.
Drew Myers added 12 points for Clarkston (4-2) while Dylan Hancook twined 10 points for the Wolves.
Nate Marcum finished with 12 points for Lake Orion (5-2). John McCarty added 11 points and Davonte Kruse chipped in with 10 points for the Dragons.
