BOYS BASKETBALL: Rochester Hills Christian advances to MACS state title game
DAVISON — For the first time in 20 years Rochester Hills Christian will play for a state championship in boys basketball.
The top-ranked Eagles defeated Davison Faith Baptist, 51-36, Friday night in the Michigan Association of Christian Schools Division I state semifinals.
Rochester Hills Christian, now 26-2, will face longtime powerhouse Temperance Stateline Christian at 5 p.m. in the MACS-I state title game at 5 p.m. Saturday at Clarkston Springfield Christian.
Marquez Hatcher had 17 points and four assists to lead the Eagles. Josh Steiner pulled a double-double by scoring 12 points with 12 rebounds, five steals and six blocked shots.
Rochester Hills Christian lost in the MACS Division II title game in 1993 and won the MACS-II title in 1992.they have never won a state crown in boys basketball at the MACS-I level.
Saturday’s finals opponent is Stateline Christian, which has won seven state titles overall.
