WATERFORD — Clarkston advanced to the regional finals for the second time in three years and third time in nine seasons Tuesday, topping Utica Ford, 48-30, in a Class A girls basketball regional finals at Waterford Kettering.

After holding a 10-7 lead after the first quarter and a 16-15 advantage at the half, the Wolves erupted like a volcano in the second half.

Clarkston (21-1) went on a 19-10 run in the third quarter for a 35-25 lead entering the fourth quarter. The Wolves closed out with a 13-5 blitz to oust the Falcons.

Delaney Kenney finished a perfect 7-for-7 from the foul line and scored a game-high 20 points to lead Clarkston, which won for the 19th straight game — by far a school record.

Erika Davneport added 15 points and Kacy Robinson twined six points for the Wolves.

Ashley Nickens scored 11 and Cris Harper added eight points for Utica Ford.

Clarkston will face Birmingham Marian in the regional finals Thursday at 7 p.m. at Waterford Kettering. Marian defeated Auburn Hills Avondale, 51-36, to advance.
