GIRLS VOLLEYBALL: Top-ranked Notre Dame Prep advances to 16th straight district finals
BLOOMFIELD HILLS — Behind another sweep, Pontiac Notre Dame Prep earned its 16th straight trip to the Class B district finals Wednesday with a 25-5, 25-10, 25-11 over Birmingham Detroit Country Day at Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Kingswood.
The Fighting Irish (56-2-1) will face host Cranbrook for the district title at 6 p.m. Thursday.
Notre Dame Prep recorded 42 kills on the day to dispatch the Yellowjackets. Katherine Carlson and Dani McCormick each slammed 10 kills, while Jenna Sassack added nine kills for the Irish. Ashley Knutson followed with 10 assists and five kills and Ellen Guerra had five kills for NDP. Hannah Antosz had 25 assists, Carlson served up 12 more points and Emma Kowalkowski had 22 digs for the Irish.
