BOYS HOCKEY: Lake Orion explodes with rout of Fenton
BLOOMFIELD HILLS — Lake Orion set the tone with two goals in the first 50 seconds and never let its foot off the pedal Tuesday night. That insured the Dragons another date in the postseason ice dance.
The Dragons made quick work of Fenton-Linden Unified at the Detroit Skate club, rolling to a mercy-shortene3d, 12-0, victory over the Tigers in a Division 1 boys hockey pre-regional.
Lake Orion will face Grand Blanc, 3-2 upset winners over Clarkston in Tuesday’ first pre-regional, in the regional semifinals Thursday night, also at the DSC.
Zach Line and Alex Giwa put the Dragons pout in front almost immediately on the game’s second and third shot. Jordan Stross, Ryan Szydlwoski and Drew Casey also added first-period tallies for Lake Orion.
In the second period, Giwa, Andre DeFauw, Connor Moesta, Casey, Stross, Defauw and Jake Chasppie scored in succession to ice the game.
Chappie finished with one goal and three assists total. Logan Aldrich and Jack Barker shared the shutout for Lake Orion (17-6-3).
