GIRLS VOLLEYBALL: Notre Dame Prep advances to 17th straight district finals
PONTIAC — For the 17th straight season, Pontiac Notre Dame Prep will play for a district championship.
The fighting Irish earned that right Wednesday night y topping Birmingham Detroit Country Day 25-7, 24-26, 25-9, 25-6 in the Class B semifinals.
NDP (53-5-0) will face Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Kingswood in the finals Friday.
The Irish were led by a trio of servers in Bella Bucchi, who collected 17 points including six aces with 17 digs. Angela Adams added 12 total points, and Hannah Antosz provided 12 points, two aces and 18 assists.
All-American and Miss Volleyball finalist Katherine Carlson added 21 more kills to her state-leading total, Ashley Knutson dished out 21 assist and 10 digs, while libero Emma Kowalkowski dug up 13 attacks for the Irish.
