GIRLS VOLLEYBALL: WOLL marches back into regional finals
CANTON — For years, Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes struggled to get past the district round of the Class D state tournament. Now, the Lakers are going after their third straight regional crown.
WOLL put itself in such a position Tuesday with a 25-13, 25-14, 25-10 sweep of Novi Franklin Road Christian in a Class D regional semifinal at Plymouth Christian.
The Lakers (26-25-2), who ventured through an injury-plagued campaign, will take their No. 5 ranking and six-game win streak into Thursday’s regional finals against host and seventh-ranked Plymouth Christian.
Lindsay Wightman led WOLL with 13 kills to go along with seven digs. Sydney Mann also chipped in with nine kills and three digs, Tiffany Senerius provided three kills, seven aces, four digs and Beth Meehan registered 28 assists and five digs for the Lakers.
