GIRLS BASKETBALL: Rochester Hills Christian earns berth in MACS-I state finals

CLARKSTON — Rochester Hills Christian is back in the state finals.

The Eagles ousted Lake Orion Baptist in the Michigan Association of Christian Schools Division I state semifinals for the second straight year Friday, topping the Lions, 51-45, at Clarkston Springfield Christian.

Rochester Hills Christian (15-5) will face Midland Calvary Baptist in the MACS-I state finals at 3 p.m. Saturday, also at Springfield Christian. Calvary Baptist (22-2) downed Davison Faith Baptist 57-48 in Friday’s other semifinal.

Senior forward Ashley Parker scored 25 points with 16 rebounds and five blocked shots to lead the Eagles, who lost to Kinross Maplewood Baptist last season and to Carson City Fellowship Baptist in the 2013 state finals. Senior guard Courtney Patton added 14 points and four steals, and sophomore Caitlyn Duncan contributed 15 points and five assists for Rochester Hills Christian.

Midland Calvary Baptist defeated Rochester Hills Christian 50-47 in a non-conference game earlier in the season.
