NOTABLES: Although the Mountaineers have managed to reach the playoffs in each of their first three years as a solo program, there are only 18 players on the roster to start the campaign. Depth and fitness will be a concern with many players playing both sides.
SCHOOL: Madison Heights Bishop Foley Catholic
HEAD COACH: Sean Cobb, fourth season (10-19)

2015 RECORD: 2-7, 0-7 CHSL-Intersectional (eighth

NOTABLES: The Ventures have struggled the past two seasons. With an experienced group and the fact that the CHSL-Intersectional splitting into two divisions, this help Foley get back on the right track.
SCHOOL: Marine City Cardinal Mooney Catholic
HEAD COACH: Jared Greenia, fifth season (9-18)
ASSISTANT COACHES: Rick Goulette, Matt McDonald, Kurtis Schneider, Dan Killian
2015 RECORD: 2-7, Independent

DE (5-10, 175); John Zwadasinski, soph. DE (5-10, 165)
NOTABLES: Cardinal Mooney rejoins the CHSL for football and will land in the Intersectional Division 2. This will be another transition year for this program, which two years ago competed in eight-man football and last year played an independent schedule in 11-v-11 football.
SCHOOL: Royal Oak Shrine Catholic
HEAD COACH: John Goddard, 24th year (156-83)
2015 RECORD: 4-5, 2-5 CHSL-Intersectional
POSTSEASON: None.
KEY RETURNEES: Asher Smith, sr. QB; Mike Miller, sr. DB; Joe Romano, sr. LB;
NOTABLES: Shrine saw its postseason streak snapped at 13 last year. If the Knights can get off on the right foot this year, they should be able to reverse the trend and return to their winning ways. Like most small CHSL schools, depth is a concern. But talent is not for this experienced unit.
SCHOOL: Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes
HEAD COACH: Josh Sawicki, fifth season (30-6)
2015 RECORD: 13-1, 7-0 CHSL-Intersectional (first)
POSTSEASON: Def. Clarkston Everest Collegiate (42-0); def. Sterling Heights Parkway Christian (54-29, district finals); Saginaw Michigan Lutheran Seminary (32-6, regional finals); def. Ottawa Lake-Whiteford (36-20, semifinals); lost to Muskegon Catholic Central in D-8 state finals (7-0).
KEY RETURNEES: Gabe Nickels, sr. LB/OL/RB; Isaac Oliver, sr. RB/S; Kurt Romkema, sr. RB/S.
KEY NEWCOMERS: Several first-year starters.
NOTABLES: Last year’s D-8 state runner-up suffered a mass exit to graduation, which opens the door for younger players to carry on one of the area’s richest traditions.
