BOYS BASKETBALL: Troy pulls away from Lake Shore to reach regional finals for first time since 2004

TROY — Troy took the right night to become hot from three-point range.
The Colts connected on 8-of-19 three-pointers Monday and cruised past St. Clair Shores Lake Shore, 65-42, in the Class A regional semifinals at Troy Athens.
Troy advanced to Wednesday’s regional finals for the first time since 2004 and will face Warren DeLaSalle at 6 p.m. at Athens.
Troy led 28-20 in the third quarter lead in the third quarter before Lake Shore cut the lead down to 35-34. The Colts (20-4) closed the game with a 33-11 spurt to pull away from the Shorians.
Junior Jason Dietz scored 15 of his game-high 18 points in the second half. Senior Danny Sully added 15 points, senior guard Leon Ayers followed with 14 points and junior Clay Sebastian followed with 11 points, nine off three-pointers.
Jaylen Dixon scored 11 and Ricky Dixon added 10 points for Lake Shore.
