FOOTBALL: Holly, Pontiac find quick exit from postseason

AUBURN — Bay City Western dominated form start to finish in this Division2 pre-district contest at Western’s Cornfield Stadium.

Joe Wiedyk led the ground assault with 230 yards on 19 carries and scored three rushing touchdowns to lead Bay City Western.

RJ Horning picked up a pair of interceptions and recovered a fumble and returned it for a touchdown to lead Western (4-3).

Western scored three times in a span of just over three minutes in the second quarter to grab a commanding 21-0 lead. Holly held firm in a 0-0 deadlock after the first quarter before Western opened the floodgates.

Holly finishes the season 1-6.

BAY CITY CENTRAL 64, PONTIAC 0: Bay City Central received little resistance form winless Pontiac in this Division 3 pre-district rout.

The Wolves scored nine touchdowns on the ground.

AJ Kaczanowski, Carlos Griffin and Jomar Griffin all scored two touchdowns apiece for Western.

Pontiac (0-7) could only amass 25 yards of offense in the defeat. The Phoenix finished winless for the second straight season and are 3-40 over the past five seasons.
