GIRLS VOLLEYBALL: Lutheran Northwest moves onto regional finals for third straight season
ROCHESTER HILLS — Behind a dominating performance, Rochester Hills Lutheran Northwest advanced to the regional finals for the third straight season Tuesday with a 3-0 victory over Detroit Cristo Rey.
The Crusaders had little resistance with the 25-8, 25-7, 25-10 triumph over the Wolves.
Sophie Plewa led Northwest with seven aces. Sabrina Gottschalk and Jena Maniaci had six kills each and Lorelaj Gallo and Katy Schwichtenberg each served up four aces in the Crusaders’ balanced attack.
The regional hosts, Northwest will face Royal Oak Shrine Catholic at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the regional finals. Northwest lost in the 2018 regional finals but captured the regional crown last season.
Shrine advanced with a 3-0 victory over Brown City.
