FOOTBALL: Swartz Creek has Holly’s number once again
HOLLY — For the fourth straight year, Swartz Creek has got the best of Holly on the football field.
The Dragons went to the air to thwart Holly, 37-19, in a Flint Metro League opener Friday.
After building just a 7-6 lead at the half, Swartz Creek erupted for a 30-13 second half.
Jaylen Schoenfield finished 18-for-27 passing for 290 yards and also rushed for 65 yards on 14 attempts to single handily tear up the Holly defense. Schoenfield had five touchdown passes on the night.
Max Cummings picked up 206 yards receiving with two touchdown catches. Jacob Littles added 60 receiving yards and grabbed three touchdown passes from Schoenfield for the Dragons (1-0, 1-0).
Jackson Maxwell added a 39-yard field goal and four extra points for Swartz Creek.
Johnny Williams was 8-for-14 passing for 65 yards for Holly. Williams scored three touchdowns on the ground with 184 yards on 17 carries for the Bronchos (0-1, 0-1).
Luke Reynolds added 61 yards on 10 rushes for Holly, which trailed just 21-13 entering the fourth quarter but was outscored 16-6 in the final frame.
