FOOTBALL: Clarkston advances to Elite Eight with rout of Grand Blanc
CLARKSTON — There is no secret of Clarkston’s bread-and butter on the grid-iron this season: Manuerver behind a daunting offensive line and rack up points.
The Division 1 top-ranked Wolves continued to thrive, rolling past visiting Grand Blanc, 35-19, Friday to advance to the Elite Eight for the second time in four seasons.
Clarkston (11-0) will play state powerhouse Rockford in the regional finals next weekend at a date and time to be announced.
Junior running back Ian Eriksen, continued to have a fine season behind that powerful line, rushing 42 times for 214 yards and two touchdowns.
The Wolves trailed 13-7 before taking a 14-13 advantage when Jared Yaroch caught a 35-yard halfback option pass from Caine Watlington midway through the second quarter.
D.J. Zezula (1-yard plunge), Shane Hynes (42-yard field goal) and Eriksen (35 yard run and 2-yard run) also got involved in the scoring for Clarkston.
