BOYS BASKETBALL: Shorthanded Clarkston holds off Waterford Mott

| December 5, 2012 | Comments (0)

CLARKSTON — It’s no secret that Clarkston graduated four starters from its OAA Red Division league championship boys basketball team.

It’s also no secret that Clarkston is missing two key players from last year’s squad that were slated to be the Wolves’ best layers this season. Both Jordan Dasuqi and Chance Huth are out for a few weeks with injuries.

Clarkston proved once again that it is a program, not just a one-man show, in its season opener Tuesday against visiting Waterford Mott.

With Dasuqi and Huth in street clothes, Clarkston held off Mott 54-38. The Corsairs reached the Class A Sweet 16 last season.

Andrew Myers scored 12 to pace the Wolves (1-0). Nick Owens added 10 points, Dylan Hancook added eight points and Press Kampe twined five points for Clarkston.

Clarkston led 15-11 after the first quarter and 29-22 at the half. Mott (0-1) rallied back with a 26-25 second half but could not complete the comeback.

Khalil Malone drilled a trio of 3-pointers and scored 21 points to lead the Corsairs. Quincy Norman followed with 13 points for the Wolves.
