NOTABLES: The Warriors are coming off a rare rebuilding campaign, recording its lowest win total since the mid-1960s. Rice took its lumps with a young team, but should bounce back with a roster full of talent. There is a combined 16 starters back.
SCHOOL: Detroit U-D Jesuit
HEAD COACH: Oscar Olejniczak, third year (15-16)
2015 RECORD: 6-4, 1-3 CHSL-Central Division (fourth)
POSTSEASON: Lost in D-2 pre-district to eventual state champion Detroit King (35-24).
KEY RETURNEES: Brian McNamara, sr. LB/OL; A.J. Thomas, sr. DB/WR; Scott Nelson, sr. WR-FS
NOTABLES: The Cubs saw an uptick last season and reached the playoffs in D-2. U-D Jesuit returns plenty of key players and hopes to make a return trip to the playoffs in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 2000 and 2001.
SCHOOL: Novi Detroit Catholic Central
HEAD COACH: Tom Mach, 41st season (357-93)
ASSISTANT COACHES: Dan Anderson, Mike Mach, Mike Lewis, Joe Mach, Justin Cessante, Rick Coratti, Roy Dudas, George Kunec.
2015 RECORD: 9-3, 3-1 CHSL-Central Division (second)
POSTSEASON: Def. Waterford Mott (42-6); def. Novi (49-35, district finals); lost in D-1 regional finals to eventual state champion Romeo (40-29).
KEY RETURNEES: Blake Bueter, sr. OL/DL (6-4, 270); Nick Capatina, sr. RB/DB (5-9, 180); Jackson Ross, sr. TE/DE (6-3, 230); Will Butler, sr. OL (6-1, 250); Jack Morris, sr. TE/DE (6-3, 225); Cam Ryan, jr. FB (6-0, 230); Tyler Moreland, sr. LB (5-11, 205, state champion wrestler); Matt Young, jr. LB/RB (6-1, 220); Isaac Darkangelo, jr. LB (6-1, 225); Chris Jakubik, sr. P/DB (6-2, 205); Jacob Nicholas, sr. K (6-0, 175).
KEY NEWCOMERS: Austin Brown, soph. QB (6-1, 180); Carson Kovath, jr. RB (6-1, 220); Matt Harding, sr. DB (6-0, 205).
NOTABLES: Catholic Central made the Elite Eight in D-1 last season and is expected to be a playoffs team once again with plenty of experience. The Shamrocks will play a multi-state, tough schedule, so a couple of young athletes at key positions will need to be molded into the fold in a hurry. CC rarely misses the playoffs and should be one of the top programs in Oakland County once again in 2016.
SCHOOL: Orchard Lake St. Mary’s
HEAD COACH: George Porritt, 29th season (258-68).
2015 RECORD: 13-1, 3-1 CHSL-Central (tied-first)
POSTSEASON: Def. Bay City John Glenn (49-7); def. Linden (55-14, district finals); def. St. Johns (56-14, regional finals); def. East Grand Rapids (14-7, state semifinals); def. Chelsea in D-3 state finals (29-12).
KEY RETURNEES: RaShawn Allen, jr. WR-RB-DB; Josh Ross, sr. LB-TE; Dwayne Chapman, sr. LB; Ralph Holley, sr. OL-DL; Ky’ren Cunningham, jr. LB; Richard Bowens III, sr. DB; Shermond Dabney, sr. CB;
KEY NEWCOMERS: Caden Prieskorn, jr. QB (transfer from Lake Orion); Mitchell Sokol, sr. WR/TE (transfer from Rochester Adams).
NOTABLES: The defending D-3 state champs are loaded with returning talent and inherited a group of highly-touted transfers that will keep them amongst the state’s best programs regardless of divisions. The Eaglets were the preseason pick by coaches to win the depth-laden CHSL-Central Division.
SCHOOL: Warren DeLaSalle
HEAD COACH: Mike Giannone, first season (159-68 at other schools).
ASSISTANT COACHES: Brandon Bush, Andrew Crowley, Greg James, Matt Lewis, Nino Landa, Tom Nowak, Andrew Patterson, John Patterson, Bob Schroeder, Mike Szalkiewicz, Mike Szatkowski, Alan Zaciek.

POSTSEASON: Lost in D-1 pre-district to Detroit East English Village (25-21)
KEY RETURNEES: Allen Stritzinger, sr. RB (Syracuse); Ryan Anderson, sr. WR; Vinny Paione, sr. OL; Frank Ragona, sr. OL: Kevin Lee, sr. LB; Evan Holland, sr. LB; John Fisher, sr. DB: Colin Titcombe, sr. DL: Steve Killop, sr. DL.

NOTABLES: The Pilots are two-years removed from a state title and welcome a new head coach. DeLaSalle should still be a force in the CHSL and challenge for a postseason berth for the 10th time in 11 seasons. Mike Giannone, the longtime coach at perennial power Macomb Dakota, is now pulling the strings.
