FRIDAY’S PREP ROUNDUP: Cougars devour Eagles for OAA-White stunner; Everest stifles Mt. Carmel, Dragons drop Athens

ROCHESTER HILLS — Rochester Stoney Creek knocked Ferndale from nits perch atop the OAA White Division standings Friday night.

The Cougars devoured the Eagles with a 71-64 upset, which gave Troy sole possession of first place in the division.

Taylor Rawlings exploded for a game-high 29 points to pace Stoney Creek. Alex Jones added 22 points, and both Tyler Curtis and Blake Wisemann added 10 points apiece for Stoney Creek (3-8, 3-6), which finished 19-for-24 from the foul line and nailed eight 3-pointers on the night.

Jordan Guinn scored a team-high 25 points for Ferndale, which shot only 10-for-19 from free lunch. Joe Baker scored 16 and Edward Harvey twined 13 points for the Eagles (8-3, 3-6).

The two teams were tied 30-30 at the half. Stoney Creek grabbed a one-point cushion with a 18-17 edge in the third quarter, then iced the game by outscoring Ferndale 23-17 in the fourth quarter.

CLARKSTON EVEREST COLLEGIATE 62, WYANDOTTE MT. CARMEL 13: Everest Collegiate showed no mercy on Mt. Carmel Friday, keeping the visitors off the scoreboard for the first three quarters in this CHSL rout.

Everest led 52-0 entering the fourth quarter, and all 11 Mountaineers reached the scoring column. Noah Beauchamp and Patrick Nalepa scored 10 apiece and Richie Cross added eight points for Everest (8-5, 6-4).

No Mt. Carmel player scored more than three points.

LAKE ORION 66, TROY ATHENS 54: Lake Orion outscored Athens23-14 in the fourth quarter to pull out its second straight OAA White Division win Friday.

John McCatty scored 18 to lead a balanced attack for Lake Orion. Chas Miller added 15 points and both Bradley Watterworth and Connor McCormick scored 10 for Lake Orion, which finished 21-for-31 from the charity stripe.

Lake Orion led 27-26 at the half and 43-40 entering the fourth quarter.

Jake Duzey scored 16, George Zachery added 13 points and Lonnie Bolden scored 11 for Athens, which got to the foul line for only 10 attempts and converted just three free throws.
WATERFORD OUR LADY OF THE LAKES 45, RIVERVIEW GABRIEL RICHARD 25: Waterford Our Lady built a 27-011 by the half and coasted to this CHSL victory.

Austin Karbowski scored 12 to lead WOLL, while Garrett Ross added seven points for the Lakers (9-3, 9-1).

Braden Walker scored seven for Gabriel Richard.
