GIRLS BASKETBALL: Clarkston tops Flint Northwestern in OT; WOLL wins on Robak’s buzzer-beater

FENTON — Lindsey Reppuhn was clutch in overtime for Clarkston Tuesday.

The senior guard was 6-for-6 in the extra session and scored a game-high 12 points in leading Clarkston to a 44-41 triumph over Flint Northwestern in a Class A regional semifinal at Fenton.

The Wolves outscored Northwestern 9-6 in the extra session.

Senior forward Anna Manilla added 11 points and six rebounds in the post and sophomore guard Delaney Kenny contributed eight points and four assists for the Wolves (18-5), who advanced to the regional finals for the first time since the fall 2005 season. Megan Hastings added eight points.

Clarkston will face state-ranked Midland at 7 p.m. Thursday at Fenton for the regional crown. The Wolves’ last regional also came in 2005 when girls basketball was still contested in the fall.

Cassidy Wright and Shavonne Morgan both finished with 10 points for Northwestern (15-9), while Darrian Bush twined seven points.

Clarkston led 22-16 qt the half. Northwestern used an 12-10 edge in the third quarter to close to within four points, then closed regulation on a 7-3 spurt to tie the game at 35-35 heading into overtime.

WATERFORD OUR LADY OF THE LAKES 43, MARINE CITY CARDINAL MOONEY 41: Lauren Robak carried her team to the class D state championship last season. The senior guard and Oakland University signee is apparently back into that same position.

Robak scored a game-high 21 points, including the game-winning shot with 1.5 seconds left, to upend Marine City Cardinal Mooney, 43-41. The Lakers (20-3) rallied back from a five-point deficit in the final two minutes to bounce their league rivals in a Class D regional semifinal at Auburn Hills Oakland Christian.

Carlee Cottrell, a transfer from Oakland Christian, nailed a trio of 3-pointers and added 10 points and Ava Doetsch scored seven for the Lakers, who will play for a regional championship at 7 p.m. Thursday, also at Oakland Christian.

Sarah Theut led Cardinal Mooney with 16 points and Halley Distelrath added seven points.

Cardinal Mooney led 10-5 after the first quarter and 17-13 at the half. Waterford Our Lady surged back with a 12-10 run in the third, to cut the deficit to 27-25 entering the final frame. WOLL outscored Mooney 18-14 in the fourth quarter, including a game-ending 7-0 run.
