Cross’ jumper helps Everest scale Westside Christian

CLARKSTON — Richie Cross nailed a jumper at the buzzer, as Clarkston Everest Collegiate claimed its first marquee win of the season with a 57-55 non-conference boys basketball victory over Detroit Westside Christian.

Westside Christian reached the Class D Final Four last season.

Cross’ game-winning bucket capped a 19-14 fourth-quarter run for Everest Collegiate (2-1), which led 31-30 at the half but trailed 41-3-8 after three quarters of play.

Cross finished with a team-high 20 points for Everest Collegiate. Patrick Nalepa added 10 points, David Smith score nine and Blake Beauchamp added eight points for the Mountaineers.

D’Juan Williams scored 28 points for Westside Christian (2-1). Kaion Seales and D’Montay Roberts added eight points apiece for Westside.
