COLLEGE SIGNINGS: Clarkston’s Spinder, Brozovich headed to the next level
CLARKSTON — Seven months after leading Clarkston to its first Division 1 girls tennis state title, Clarkston’s Gabriella Spindler and Katie Brozovich have both their college choice official.
A pair of all-staters, Spindler signed with West Point and Brozovich will head to Bowling Green State. Both are Division I institutions.

Spindler was the Wolves’ No. 1 singles player as a sophomore and junior and earned All-State, All-North Oakland Area, All-Oakland County honors and All-OAA Red Division last June. She finished her junior season with a fine 24-3 record, with the losses coming to state champion Kelsey Dieters of Rochester (twice) and to Alix Thurman of Harrison Township L’Anse Creuse (state runner-up). Spindler reached the state semifinals and won the Holly Red & White Invitational, Ann Arbor Pioneer Tournament and Grand Blanc Invitational. She was the Rochester regional runner-up.
Spindler is 60-7 in her three-year varsity career with just the 2012 season remaining.
Brozovich finished a perfect 27-0 as a junior and was the No. 3 singles state champion for the Wolves. She won the OAA Red Division, Rochester regional, Holly Red & White Invitational, and Grand Blanc Invitational champion.
Brozovich actually played No. 2 singles as a sophomore for Clarkston and was the No. 2 singles state runner-up. She will carry a 66-3 career ledger into her senior year, where Clarkston will be amongst the favorites once again. She was All-State Honorable Mention to go along with All-OAA Red Division and All-Area.
