GIRLS BASKETBALL: Clarkston pastes West Bloomfield in 65-31 rout
CLARKSTON — Behind a 36-20 first half and a sterling team defensive effort, Clarkston continued one of its best starts in school history with a lopsided 65-31 OAA Red Division girls basketball triumph over West Bloomfield Tuesday.
Back to-back 18-10 runs in the first two quarters were followed by a 15-7 spurt in the third frame that led to a commanding 52-27 advantage. The Wolves coasted to a 13-4 run in the final quarter to put the finishing touches on the 34-point win.
Clarkston, off to a 9-0 start and a 4-0 ledger in the league, held West Bloomfield’s high-scoring guard Sydney Davis to only three field goals and eight points. The Wolves’ stingy defense also limited West Bloomfield to only six field goals, as the Lakers had to settle for a 19-for-29 performance from the free throw line for two thirds of their points.
Kheri Motley led West Bloomfield (5-4, 0-3) with 10 points.
Delaney Kenny scored a game-high 21 points to lead the Wolves’ charge. Christina Jokisch added 12 points and Erika Davenport scored eight for Clarkston.
